Important: A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact us before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support through the process. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.

The Discovery Sport is Land Rover's compact seven-seat-capable SUV, and it sells in large numbers across North America.

Model profile
The Discovery Sport (project code L550) launched in 2015 as the replacement for the Freelander 2 / LR2. It brought monocoque construction, cleaner Discovery-family styling and an optional third row that turns it into a 5+2.
Powertrain and equipment
Early US cars (2015-2017) used a 2.0-litre turbocharged four badged Si4, derived from the Ford EcoBoost family, producing around 240 hp. From roughly 2018 Land Rover switched to its own 2.0-litre Ingenium turbo petrol, and the 2020 facelift introduced the P250 rated near 246 hp with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance.
The body is a single five-door SUV shape, with the key variable being the optional third-row seats. US trim walks have included SE, HSE and HSE Luxury, plus the R-Dynamic appearance grades on later cars.
Vehicle selection
Availability is good, with plenty of 2016-2021 examples in the market at a range of mileages.
A US import suits a buyer who wants a well-equipped, low-rust example in a specific colour and trim, or who finds better value in the American market than at home.

Pre-purchase review
For the Land Rover Discovery Sport, the agreed inspection plan focuses in particular on fault memory, the visible condition of the hybrid and cooling systems, maintenance records and interaction between combustion and electric drive. USCar Trader can document these points through a separately commissioned on-site inspection; inaccessible areas or unauthorised road tests are explicitly recorded as unchecked.
Germany and Europe
US cars run amber front side markers, US headlamp aiming, miles-per-hour instrumentation and US-configured navigation and radio bands. The petrol-only US lineup differs from the European diesel-heavy range.
The inspector will focus on headlamp beam pattern, the amber side markers, the rear fog lamp requirement and speedometer marking. Odometer history must be documented and consistent.
USCar Trader services
As a buyer based in Germany, you do not have to inspect the vehicle yourself in the United States or Canada. Within the agreed scope, USCar Trader can coordinate document review, a separately commissioned on-site inspection and purchase processing.
Covered inspection points are agreed in advance. An on-site inspection records condition at the appointment and is not a guarantee.
Next step: Before commissioning, USCar Trader and the customer agree which document, history, inspection and transaction checks suit the vehicle and are included in the service. This records what was actually checked.
Import process
The assessment depends on the specific vehicle and the circumstances of the transaction. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review any possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support. Import VAT and other costs are considered separately.

Petrol. Diesel versions were not sold in the United States, so imported US cars use the 2.0 turbo petrol engines.
Many do. The third row was a popular option, turning it into a 5+2. Confirm on the individual car's build data.
Early nine-speed shift quality, infotainment and electrical faults, occasional coolant loss, and water ingress around seals. Check the mild-hybrid system on later P250 cars.
